So this evening our friends A&W (yes – I just realized the coolness of their initials) gave us an early Christmas present and I couldn’t resist peeking. Lo – and what did I discover amongst the booty but two, count ’em, two new ceramic Tim Hortons mugs. WOOT! These are the new edition which look like ceramic versions of their cool brown paper cups. You can never have too many Tim mugs I say. I will use them well for sure.
Given that I appreciate all things Tim’s I should also relate a story of a visit from friends (Josh and Karen) of ours in Florida. They came to our place in Ottawa in February and had never been out of the state of Florida before. Well it didn’t take long for Josh to figure out my love for Tim Hortons and before long he kept "accidentally" calling it Tom Huttons. It was ridiculous really – I kept correcting him and he kept doing it. Of course the ghost of Tim Horton struck him and Karen with a pretty nasty cold while they were here. It was either that or the day we spent on the Ottawa River ice fishing in a blizzard. One of the two.
Anyhow – all that to say thanks to A&W for the Tim Mugs etc. They are under the tree awaiting hot beverages Christmas Morn!

I am not familiar with Tom Hutton. I shall go a goggle-ing. Nice mug.j

It\’s a Canadian thing…Tim Hortons is essentially a business that has managed to weave itself into the cultural fabric of Canadian identity…not sure if there\’s an American equivalent….The Hudson\’s Bay Company was another Canadian icon that for a while was a close part of our identity…it used to own a large percentage of what is now Canada.

I\’m not sure that Tim Horton\’s is as Canadian as we\’d like it to be. I\’ve been angry at them since last summer when they sent a lobby group to shut down a federal government site dedicated to anti-idling information.I\’ve got kind of a Tim Horton\’s blog going right now actually, if you\’re interested:http://timhortonsplanet.blogspot.com
