Canadian Election…

I am starting to think that the Liberals are going to get absolutely hammered in the upcoming election. I believe we might see a minority Conservative government with the NDP holding the balance of power. Quite frankly I was pleased by how the NDP used their position when the Liberals were in the leadership position – gernerally pushing for social and health care spending that would normally slide. I know many people see the Conservatives and the NDP as polar opposites but perhaps the combination of the two in a minority government would create a balance that would work…both parties keeping each other from moving too far to the extreme right or left – the perfect Canadian compromise – right up the middle (and no – the Liberals are not right up the middle as some think).

I don\’t think the Liberal\’s will get hammered – I\’ll think we\’ll end up with anothe liberal minority. The conservatives freak out too many ppl in the east.

oops, I forgot the main purpose of my post.I\’m a Conservative, and I\’m hoping for just the scenario you\’ve outlined, Pete. I\’m not particularily the biggest fan of Harper, but as they say, you\’ve come a long way, baby! Anything other than Conservative victory is going to further the alienation of western Canada, and especially aggitate Quebecers in ways I don\’t think most people understand. Or perhaps they do understand, but don\’t care and vote Liberal anyway.I just hope Ontario doesn\’t screw us over at the last minute and condemn us to more liberal arrogance. But, I think this is the beginning of the end of the liberal party of Canada, and i think Canadian politics in general is about to change dramatically in the next 10 or 15 years.
