Chronicles of Narnia

Just saw Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe with 58 of my closest friends. Great film. Awesome effects (the beavers are cool). The acting was really good – especially Lucy.

Very enjoyable if a little constrained. I highly recommend it.

I miss the innocence of enjoying a book for its surface. I can\’t reread this. It\’ll ruin it for me.I guess the alegory works for you though. I suggest you read Phillip Pullman\’s His Dark Material\’s series.

I read an interview of Pullman recently where he talked about how much he hated C.S. Lewis and his work…I mean hate. That is not too strong a word for the way he expressed his feelings. In fact he mentioned that the primary reason for His Dark Materials was to write a sort of Anti-Narnia series. In Narnia, Lewis writes an allegorical tale which is meant to describe the God\’s plan of salvation. In Pullman\’s series he wants to tell the story of how people work to overthrow God (the ruler of the universe). Pullman is a self-professed atheist and is essentially writing his own allegory – the story of humanity killing God. I will likely read it.Speaking of allegory – you and Tolkien have something in common. Tolkien couldn\’t stand allegory. He really really didn\’t like it. He strongly denied any allegory in his own work. Nevertheless it was still strongly influenced by his own christianity and you can find the imagery everywhere.

I only read The Lion, the witch, and the Wardrobe recently. I finished it just yesterday. I quite liked it. It\’s not only a quick read, but it\’s quite enjoyable. I do like the allegory, I have to say.I don\’t know anything about Phillip Pullman, but how does one purpose to kill God?

I wasn\’t adressing you at all in that post but our relative who read the whole thing, never commented and then told mom and offered to send her the address. Before asking me. Before commenting. I don\’t care if people read it – but to me it\’s a 2 way street. I put it out there for ppl to interact with me. To share their thoughts in the comments. If I haven\’t told you about it directly and you find it you could at least say "hi" before offering the URL up to others. Yes it\’s not locked, but if you\’re reading my heart, at least say hello. ugh. You comment a lot, so thank you. I shared the URL with you b/c I wanted your thoughts in return. It\’s a 2 way street.
