Everest is covered
With the corpses
Of motivated people
Reaching for dreams
Frozen in time
Forever seeking a summit
Just out of reach
Everest is covered
With the corpses
Of motivated people
Reaching for dreams
Frozen in time
Forever seeking a summit
Just out of reach
I see a chalice of gold
Hanging there in front of me
Mine for the taking
Filled with light
And liquid sun
All i have to do is reach
But I have forgotten how to move
So maybe the sight will be enough
Let it be enough
Space is cold
That expanse of black
Filled with emptiness
That is the nature of distance
It freezes
It kills
Only the improbable nearness
Of two drifting bodies
Pulled into each other’s orbit
By their mutual grasping gravity
Brings warmth
Brings life
And stands against the fact that
Space is cold
The tide cannot remain out forever
That vast plain of ocean floor
With all of its treasure exposed
Will one day be flooded again
Hiding the shells from desiring hands
And the cycle continues
It’s still dark
And so am I
But the sun will rise
And light will leak in
And day will take over
Somewhere, somehow
A voice calls out from the dark
And a battered world pauses to listen
As it shouts poison as a solution
Promising power and prosperity
At the small cost of morality
At the small cost of freedom
Who can stand in the face of such fear?
Only those willing to give everything.
Protect your light
Protect your love
It will be needed in the end.
I’m reading about our Lisbon
On the edge of the end of the world
And dreaming of days gone by
When we sailed on the river
And kept balance on the cobblestones
But this is the past
Where I dare not dwell
So I sit happy here in hope
Thinking on new journeys
In gratitude for old
Quiet day
Silent day
A time of rest
And reconnection
Let us eat
Let us laugh
Let us love
There is only now
Only ever now
It is the dead calm
After the storm
Where all is still
Because it has died
Put odd exhausted
From the effort
At simply staying alive
Either way
The sun shine bright
On a quiet windswept world
Waiting to see
Which is which
There are those that venture out
When the western storms blow in
And those that hunker down
To wait out that blinding tempest
Staying safe and staying warm
Near food and running water
Each one yelling the world
A little about who they are
In this small moment
