In the mornings
the artificial lights
we setup for the plants
turn on for the day
and sometimes
I like to linger in the glow

They were designed
to give them all
that the absent sun would
if it had remained
in any real sense

and sometimes
I like to linger in the glow
to see if I too
could continue to grow
quietly unfurling.
