the anticipation
of the bombs falling
is far worse
than the reality
of the dam bursting
and flooding the valley
all the pressure is gone
and in the wake of destruction
new life grows
while the valley is reclaimed

we know this,
it is in our bones
but fear has a way
of overwhelming reason
like how winter out the window
looks cold and different
making you forget
that spring is still there
waiting to be released
