The Hundred Years War on Palestine

I just finished reading The Hundred Years War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance by Rashid Khalidi.

I found the book to be incredibly compelling. I was surprised by his scathing indictment of Hamas, the PLO and the Palestinian Authority. His ability to present a Palestinian perspective of the ongoing conflict while at the same time holding Palestinian leaders and organizations accountable is incredible.

Definitely worth reading.

Now I have just begun reading Israel, A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth by Noa Tishby, Stay tuned.

A Poem for Social Media

If you don’t care

What people think

Stop talking

About what people think

It makes people think

You care about

What people think

June 23, 2025 – i know dogs

I know dogs

It’s never the mean ones

That you have to worry about

You know where you stand with them

It’s the hungry dogs

It’s the railthin starved dogs

With those haunted eyes

And that desperate stare

Those are the ones you worry about

Those are the ones you keep away from

You give them a bite

They’ll follow you home

You give them a bite

They’ll kill the world for you

Then they’ll kill you

Leave hungry dogs lie

Never look then in the eye

Take it from me

I know dogs

June 22, 2025- need

The capacity for human goodness

Is surpassed only

By our capacity for evil

By our capacity for destruction

To engulf our cousins in flame

To destroy and kill

As if death is life

And life is not worth living

We are diseased

We need

We need

We need

Perfect

A perfect moment

Is cast in gold and honey sun

Filtered through green cathedral

As the breeze sings quiet

And you are loving small things

The way you do

A perfect moment

Sneaks in unplanned

And becomes a mortar

Binding the past

To whatever may be next

It lives in me

For a long as i am me

To be

I don’t know

How to be

Sometimes

I don’t know

How to be

Near someone

Or away from

Someone

I don’t know

How to love

How to hate

I don’t know

How to be

I don’t know

How…

June 21, 2025

A sad song drifted near

And got caught, stuck

In the spiderweb of my heart

Where I dutifully wandered

To wrap it up quick

And save it for the lean times

When I’m feeling too happy

I can take a small sip

And drift into tearful dreams

Letting the grey clouds roll in

Until suddenly,

I fall into the open earth

June 20, 2025 – word factory

I’m a word factory

Belching forth black

Into this digital aether

Polluting the endless net

Forging syllable after syllable

Like hot bullets for the war

I can see them fly away

Following phosphorous trails

Like white lasers through the target

It’s an imperative

It’s a necessity

It’s a kind of violence

To pour out these half formed ideas

Like hot breath on an ice cold day

And watch the sail far and away

Trust…
