Vampyr

There in the night garden

He first laid hand upon flesh

And felt its torn warmth

Spill forth as black in the moonlight

In a kind of dark baptism

That marked the beginning

Of his long drawn out goodbye

And the end of so many others

Beneath the length of ivory

March 24, 2025 – where am i

I’m in my office
and sun spills through the window
crawling lazily across the bed
so i rise and lift the blind higher
because I WANT MORE
i want more light
i want more sky
i want more life
to fill my wandering eye

I’m on a yacht
in the picture on my screen
and there is Lisbon
stretched behind me
allowing me to be a witness
to her glory
as it rises from the banks
of the glassy, wide Tagus

I’m in my head
thinking of these times
that spread like bookmarks
into my past
and i linger for a moment
because I WANT MORE
i want more memories
i want more beauty
i want more love
to fill my gluttonous mind

Crazy

I have seen the crazy eyes

Sunk in the head of the desolate

Glowing from the face of the desperate

Once they have held in their hands

What they never knew they needed

Strung out and insane with desire

One

More

Fix

They never let go

Insane zombies

Stumbling foward

To consume what they love

Becoming destroyers

In the end

Meet

If you lose me

In the fog that comes with night

Meet me in the morning bright

Along the edge of a new rising light

And we will run like it was the first day

Between droplets of a sun shower’s spray

Becoming a radiant rainbow display

Of you, of me, of we.

Close

Distance

Is not a measure

Of close

Match 23, 2025 – breakfast

Voices drift around the room

Strangers gathered around one purpose

To eat at the break of day

Or maybe a little later than the break

We are part of that crowd

Existing near one another

Waiting for my damn eggs

Drinking coffee to stay alive

But it’s OK really

We are laughing

And sharing memes

We are

                Adjacent

In the best possible way

March 22, 2025 – enigma

There is no code

Embedded in this poem

This does not require enigma

To drag out obscurity

It is a clear declaration

An open book

In a fog filled world

I am here in this place

Easy to find

By lovers and haters alike

I am planted in this place

Come and find me

When

I remember when

We didn’t know we could die

Not really

And so we’d jump 40 feet

To the dark waters below

Or leap into the chutes

Of the city river dam

To be shot like bullets

Into the rapidd on the other side

I jumped across balconies

And punched holes in the ice

Along the frozen Ridesu Canal

Sometimes we hid in trains

Hoping to be carried away

Because we couldn’t die

Not in those days

Match 21,2025 – stand

You can stand on the shore

To stare out to the ocean

And never see a single whale

Nor even a pod of dolphins

You stand so long

Until you start to doubt

That they were ever there at all

That they were dreams

And that the sea is empty

Of any good thing
