I thought I was stone
Rock like my name
But i am clay bricks
Held together by mortar
A fragile blend of sand
That corodes with pain
And falls in the heavy rain
But I’m still standing
An edifice worthy of passersby
That stood through storm
And learned to stay dry
Month: February 2025
February 12, 2025 – Hair Trigger
I’m a hair trigger mine
waiting to be stepped on
Ready to explode
On the first hapless passerby
Leaving wreckage
Spun out in every direction
Pieces of me too shattered
To put back in place
Want to see the strength
Of a man’s faith?
Put his deepest desire
In front of his eyes
And watch it crumble
Like sand castles facing the waves
He’ll give up his god
He’ll give up his everything
And walking blindly to doom
Like the idiot he is
Burning the world down as he goes
February 11, 2025 – Fear
Lonesome is a fear
a fettering weight
Placed on unwilling shoulders
And carried through the storms
I should have asked
I should have asked
But I piled it on instead
And added it to your own
A crushing grey stone
That shouldn’t by held alone
So I will add my rising strength
My blood, my muscle, my bone
To join in the work at hand
That we might both lift up
That we might both stand
February 10, 2025 – Eat the Earth
I want to eat the earth
To taste soil and asphalt
Gritty and wet upon my tongue
To lay out naked in a warm rain
And bleed into the world
Verdant beneath my skin
Until I am lost in the confusion
Of an infinite swarm of life
And
An infinite swarm of death
February 9, 2025 – Marina
Marina is my musical muse
Singing of power and control
While I drift between sleep
And a day wrapped in dreams
Laying beside my beating heart –
She’s reading and living and breathing
Just a presence in beautiful blue
As we float away into the unknown
February 8, 2025 – Rock
This ship rocks me to sleep
As if I’m cradled in some god’s arms
It takes care of me
It keeps me fed
And I can swim
As we skim
Over the deep ocean waters
Oblivious to the swarming life
That passes uncurious beneath
Going where they will
A we go where we will
February 7, 2025 – Migration
Fly four hours
And we’re a world away
Thousands of years migrating
For our ancestors
Over in the blink of an eye
Now we’re warm
Now there is sand
Instead of snow
And a man
Painting on the beach
Screeching to New Order
A good play list
Accompanied by shameless joy
What a thing
February 6, 2025
First the road
Than the sky
Than the sea
Awaits mine
Awaits me
For memory creation
Rejuvenation
And new insights
Into the world
And i
I am grateful
Cliff
The cliff is stalwart
Strong granite glowing at sunset
And the sea covets the beauty
The unchanging strength
That rises up over the highest waves
And so the waters flatter it
Roaring of its greatness
With wave after wave
It presses against its surface
Desiring to be it’s equal
But the rock resists
As year after year
Sea pounds away
Until rock crumbles
And is consumed
Beneath the water’s surface
Lost to oblivion
While the sea seeks
A new love to wear away
February 5, 2025 – Hope
hope is a rising tide
that is flooding through my mind
a cleansing wash of waters
sweeping away the filth
of unworthy thoughts
of aimless gutter guilt
and dragging it out to sea
where it might stay forever
if i can learn to hem in this ocean
and keep it forever high
