the line between
don’t ask and don’t tell
does not exist;
they meet like the waters
of the Mississippi and gulf
in a messy blend of brown and blue
and anyone flying overhead
can see the joining of the two
it’s obvious in the clear light of day
or by the shine of the silver moon
