This Hurricane Death

this hurricane death
looms
black mountain cliffs

this hurricane death
screams
a tearing breaking wind

this hurricane death
deceives
with a middling peace

this hurricane death
destroys
consumes with sharpened teeth

this hurricane death
abandons
while we are left

broken branches
stripped bare and laid low
grey bones in the road
for all to see
shallow echoes
of lost laughs
replaced with ache
